Challenge
At my first hackathon, the challenge was creating something cool in the limited 24 hour timeframe provided. We decided to go with education as a general theme, because as students we could then evaluate our application from an end-user perspective.
Solution
We ended up creating a NLP-Based Google-inspired search tool for searching recorded lectures for questions and answers, with my task being designing a responsive, clean frontend and advising design decisions for the entire application. Learning CSS as I went along, I used my knowledge from extensive User Interface development online to guide the design, and ended up visually impressing the judges!
